Liuhua 4-1 Subsea Tieback Project

JDR supplied 14 km of subsea production control and ESP power umbilicals for CNOOC's Liuhua 4-1 field in the South China Sea. The project involved depths of 260-300 meters, with power umbilicals containing three 3-phase circuits per well, simplifying riser complexity and optimizing system reliability.

Brunei Shell Petroleum – Champion B23 Development

JDR supplied 10 custom composite power umbilicals totaling 13 km for Brunei Shell’s Champion Waterflood Phase B23 project. The umbilicals, designed for depths up to 32 meters, integrate power, communications, chemicals, air, and fiber optics into a single bundle. Manufactured using JDR’s Vertical Lay-up Machine (VLM), this project marks JDR’s third collaboration with Brunei Shell Petroleum.

London Array Offshore Windfarm

For the London Array, one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms, JDR developed over 200 km of subsea inter-array cables linking turbines to offshore substations. The cables were designed for flexibility, reliability, and cost-effective installation. Manufactured at JDR’s Hartlepool facility, they were delivered in 2010-2011 and were integral to the wind farm’s successful operation.

Gunfleet Sands Offshore Windfarm

JDR provided over 12km of subsea inter-array and export cables for the Gunfleet Sands Offshore Windfarm, supporting the installation of Siemens 6MW turbines. This project required flexible, quick delivery solutions and JDR's proprietary cable systems, including rigid cable repair joints, enhanced installation flexibility, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Wave Hub – Offshore Wave Energy Farm

JDR supplied a 25km subsea export cable to connect Wave Hub, the world’s largest offshore wave energy test centre, to the North Cornwall power grid. This project supports the testing of Wave Energy Converters (WECs) in a monitored marine environment. JDR also provided custom-engineered Dry Mate Connectors, ensuring reliable, watertight connections within the Wave Hub Chamber.

Greater Gabbard Offshore Windfarm

JDR supplied over 200 km of inter-array subsea power cables for the Greater Gabbard Offshore Windfarm, connecting 140 turbines to offshore substations. These cables were designed for the smallest diameter while ensuring strength and reliability for field installation. JDR’s advanced cable technology and installation expertise were key to the wind farm's success.

Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Demonstrator Project

JDR was contracted to supply subsea inter-array cables for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm, connecting two 5MW turbines to the Beatrice AP oil platform 25km offshore. As part of the EU's DOWNVInD initiative, this demonstrator project tested the feasibility of deepwater wind farms. JDR designed cables with minimal diameter and optimal strength for challenging offshore conditions, ensuring reliability in the field.

Aasgard – Norwegian Sea

JDR provided a comprehensive control package for FMC on the Aasgard field, located 200 km offshore from Norway. This included Xmas tree umbilicals, landing string umbilicals, hydraulic and electric hotline umbilicals, and jumpers, connecting over 50 wells and 17 templates. The scope involved 10 reelers, 12 baskets, and 20 sheaves, ensuring performance in harsh offshore conditions. JDR optimized component layout, reducing diameter and reel size, improving fatigue performance and stress reduction.
