Kriegers Flak

JDR completed the production and delivery of 170 km of aluminium core inter-array cables for the Kriegers Flak wind farm, one of Denmark’s key renewable energy projects. The cables, which were produced at JDR’s Bydgoszcz and Hartlepool facilities, form an essential part of the wind farm’s power transmission infrastructure. Upon completion, the Kriegers Flak wind farm will have 72 turbines, each with a capacity of 8.4 MW, providing 605 MW of power—enough to supply over 600,000 Danish households, representing around 23% of Denmark’s energy needs.

Vineyard Wind 1 Offshore Wind Farm, USA – Manufacturing and Supplying Array Cables and Accessories

JDR Cable Systems made a significant contribution to the Vineyard Wind 1 project, the first industrial-scale offshore wind farm in the United States, located off the coast of Massachusetts. This 800 MW project powers over 400,000 homes. JDR was responsible for manufacturing and supplying approximately 130 miles of 66kV inter-array cables and conducting their termination and testing. These cables connected wind turbines to offshore substations for efficient power transmission to the grid. The project, which began installation in 2023, marked a milestone in US offshore wind development, contributing to the country’s sustainable energy goals.

Leucate-Le Baracés

JDR supplied 66 kV dynamic cables for the Leucate-Le Barcarès floating wind farm, one of the largest floating offshore wind farms in France. This project is part of Europe's efforts to increase the share of renewable energy in the region’s energy mix.

Dan Tysk Offshore Wind Farm, Germany

Located 70 km off the coast of Sylt, the Dan Tysk offshore wind farm has a total capacity of 288 MW. JDR designed and manufactured two inter-array cables, totalling 7.5 km in length. The cables, along with accessories, were delivered within 10 weeks, contributing to the wind farm’s success and providing power to 400,000 households.

Changhua Offshore Wind Farm

The Changhua project, located off the coast of Fangyuan in Changhua County, central Taiwan, involves the installation and commissioning of 21 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 110 MW. In the first phase of the project, 63 km of 33 kV Cu 630 mm² inter-array cables and export cables were supplied to transmit power from the wind turbines to the shore. The installation was completed in 2020. The wind farm consists of 21 turbines, each with a capacity of 5.2 MW.

Once fully operational, the four wind projects, including Formosa 1 and Changhua, will form the largest offshore wind energy complex in Taiwan, with a total capacity of 2.4 GW, enough to provide renewable energy to around 2.8 million households in the country.

East Anglia One – The First Commercial Wind Farm with 66kV Cables

JDR was selected to supply 155km of 66kV inter-array cables for Scottish Power Renewables' East Anglia One offshore wind farm, the first commercial use of 66kV cable technology. This 714MW project will power 500,000 homes and is set for completion in 2020. The cables were manufactured at JDR’s Hartlepool facility.

Anyala & Madu

The Anyala and Madu fields are located within the OML 83 and 85 leases in the shallow waters of the Niger Delta, approximately 40 km off the coast of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The fields are estimated to contain a total of 193 million barrels of oil (MMbbl) and 0.637 trillion cubic feet of gas.

As part of the Anyala & Madu project, JDR supplied a total of 23.7 km of umbilicals, including power and control umbilicals that connect the FPSO to the Madu and Anyala fields, as well as the Subsea Isolation Valve (SSIV). The cables and SSIV were manufactured at JDR's facilities in Littleport and Hartlepool, UK. These supplied cables will contribute to optimising gas extraction costs from the Anyala and Madu fields and will be directed to a gas processing hub to meet the local market's needs.

Formosa 1, Phase 2

Formosa 1 is Taiwan's first commercial-scale offshore wind energy project, located approximately 6 km off the western coast of Miaoli in the Taiwan Strait. As part of the project, 21 km of inter-array cables, 13 km of export cable, and 16 km of onshore cables were supplied to transmit energy from the wind turbines to the shore. In 2020, JDR and the Bydgoszcz facility produced and delivered the required cables, along with providing accessories, cable installation, equipment assembly, and post-installation support, carried out by a team of 26 technicians on the offshore turbine platforms.

Formosa 1 is a key milestone in the development of the wind energy sector in Taiwan, and it is the first project in the region to enable the commercial production of offshore wind energy. The project achieved a total capacity of 120 MW upon completion of its second phase.

Offshore Platform Project, Azerbaijan

As part of the offshore platform project in Azerbaijan, the facilities in Bydgoszcz and Hartlepool jointly supplied a 33kV fibre optic power cable, 5.5 km in length, along with a Subsea Isolation Valve (SSIV) umbilical for the platform. This project provides the necessary energy infrastructure, supporting production in the region.

Moray East Offshore Wind Farm

The Moray East Offshore Wind Farm is one of the largest renewable energy development projects in the UK, requiring precisely coordinated deliveries and installations. A key component of the project was the supply of 220 kV HV land cables, which were manufactured and tested at the TFKable facility in Bydgoszcz. These cables were then transported to the Scottish coastline using an innovative system of 270 rotating drums, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.

The Moray East wind farm aims to provide low-emission energy capable of meeting the average annual electricity demand of over 950,000 households in the UK. As part of this investment, JDR also supplied accessories for the offshore team responsible for terminations and testing, complementing the earlier delivery of 200 km of 66 kV cables and a range of termination accessories.

Moray East is a significant project, contributing not only to the growth of renewable energy in Scotland but also representing an important step towards sustainable energy transition, supporting the future of low-emission power generation in the region.
